Title: Status of First Talaq After completing 3 months

Question: I had given TALAQ to my wife on 5th February 2013, later in due time of three menstrual period of her, I not said or done any RUJU, after completion of 3 months from the date of TALAQ pronounced I asked her to marry me and settle the issues, but she did not agree and pass the ball to her parents and our fight continued. On the 8th July 2013 I wrote her email writing entire happening among us and the reason for our first TALAQ; and in last line of email I wrote? I am giving you “TALAQ TALAQ TALAQ”. Now the query is what is the status of my TALAQ according to Shariah in the light of Quran and Hadith? Weather it is considered as only one TALAQ or it is considered as a 3 TALAQ? The 2 Muftis had confused me saying one as triple Talaq had happened and other one as it is only one talaq. Kindly clarify in detail to forward the same message to our Muftis.

    Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 1369/D-283/File-D=01/1434) If you gave only one talaq on 5th February and no physical contact or foreplay was done between both of you from 5th February to 8th July and also you did not say any word for ruju (revocation) as well and the wife completed three haiz from 5th February to 8th July, then in such case since the iddah of the wife is over and the nikah came to an end hence the last word of email i.e. I am giving you “talaq, talaq talaq” is null and void. And only one talaq which was given on 5th February took place. The ruling for you is that both of you may do new nikah with the consent of both parties with new mahr. Note: If you gave three talaqs on 5th February or you did ruju verbally or practically or the iddah was not over till 8th July then the ruling shall be different. If it is so then explain it and know the ruling again.
