    Title: Use of interest money

Question: Can we use interest money to give a gift to non-Muslim friend even if he is not poor? It aroused in my mind because I wanted to give a gift to my friend then I thought that interest money will not harm him as it forbids me from its usage. Moreover the pure money from which I was going to buy gift can be given as 'sadaqah' to some needy which can also earn me rewards. I hope you understand my question.

    Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 876/679/H=1434) (1) Whether it shall harm the non-Muslim or not, but it shall certainly harm you if you will use it to give as gift. In short, it is not right to give it as gift. However, if he is poor then you may give him in charity without the intention of reward. (2) It is obvious that you will get reward if you buy a gift from halal amount and then give in charity to a poor.
