Title: Business within the limits of shariyah

Question: I want to ask some question regarding my business. I am a pharmacist and I run a medical distributor. (1) I have to give some amount to drug officers every year as all medical owners give, is it haram? If we don't give it they will ask to run medical with all government rules which is almost not possible. (2) To run our business some percent of our profit we give to doctors with mutual discussion and it is fixed, is it permissible? Waiting for your valuable answer which will be very helpful for me and my friends to maintain our life within the Shariah. Please reply as soon as possible.

    Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 840/L-314/TL=1434) (1 & 2) Both these conditions are forms of bribe. As it is sin to take bribe in the same way it is also sin to give bribe. The holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) has cursed both who gives bribe and takes it. عن عبدالله بن عمرو قال : لعن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم "الراشى والمرتشى". (مشكوة: 2/326) Hence the best way for you is to save yourself from this haram act. But if sometimes it happens so that there is no other way except bribe then due to compulsion you may give some bribe for the sake of your business considering it bad and doing taubah and istighfar for the same.
