Title: Regarding haram and halal

Question: My question is that I live with my friends in Delhi. I do job in a company. The occupation of my friend is scrap purchasing and selling. They mess in their weighing scale at the time of weigh. I eat with them, so living with them is right or wrong? If I eat food purchased from those money will it be halal or haram? Should I live with them? Please guide me.

(Fatwa: 1710/1710/M=1433) By messing weighing scale, if you mean giving deficient measures or weight as deceit, then as per the Shariah this practice is unlawful and sin. Warn the friend that he should run his business and all the practices as per the Shariah. If he does taubah and reforms himself then there is no harm in eating and mixing up with him. Otherwise keep yourself aloof from him.
