(1) The word ?noor? means light as Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran: هو الذي جعل الشمس ضياء و القمر نورا Since, light itself is illuminated and it illuminates other things as well, due to this reason the prophets (علیھم السلام) are called ?noor?, because they themselves were guided and showed the others the way to Allah and led them to right path. So, on account of this meaning, every religious guide is also ?noor?. The word in Hidith: اللهم اجعلني نورا implies the same meaning.
Shortly, the Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) is Noor as well as a human-being. Those, who mean by the word Noor that the Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) is not a human-being but is like angels, they are wrong. It was the belief of the infidels that there is contradiction between humanness and prophethood, they used to say that only angel could be a prophet. The Holy Quran rejected their belief at several places.
(2) The majority of the Ummah belives that the Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) is alive in his blessed grave with a particular life, and what is real status of this life it is known to Allah alone.
