Question: My wife wishes to work in an educational institution. I am also working but financially it is getting difficult for us to manage, so she wishes to start working. Is her salary haram for me? I heard that if a lady work then jannah is not permissible for that man. He is (maharoom) from it. Is this statement correct?

(Fatwa: 205/205/M=1433) What you heard is incorrect. Almighty Allah has imposed the duty of earning on males hence a woman should not go out of her home without compulsion for earning. Yes, if she is in need of it and earns while observing complete purdah then her income shall not be termed as haram. Her husband also can use her salary with her permission.
