    Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 1009/711/D=1433) Only reciting the words of the holy Quran are also the source of reward and virtues. It is also desired and ordered by Almighty Allah. And it is high status to read it while understanding its meaning. Its method for non-Alim person is that if some authentic Alim holds the classes of the holy Quran then he should attend it regularly. The second way is that if he knows how to read Urdu and understands it very well then he should read the authentic and reliable tafseer i.e. Ma’ariful Quran by Mufti Muhammad Shafi (رحمة اللہ علیہ) and where he is unable to understand he should consult any Alim. It might be harmful to attend the classes of the Quran held by some unauthentic person or to read unauthentic tafseer or translation. And if he fears that he would misunderstand while reading tafseer by himself then he should read it before any Alim in leisure time so that he is aware of the instructions and orders of Allah. This will have a quite different effect.
