    Title: Divorce

Question: My husband in anger said talaq 3 times to me, while I was trying to sort things out calmly with him. It happened many years ago. And we are still living together. He is refusing to accept now that we are strangers to each other He has asked a family member and he was told that because he was not in his senses and angry therefore the talaq is not valid. Please let me know if he is right or not? And if he is not then what steps should I take?

    Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 1171/1165/N=09/1435) (1) Talaq takes place in normal anger as well, hence if your husband was in normal anger and in his sense when your husband gave you talaq and it was understood by his apparent saying and act then all the three talaqs took place on you. In case he was not in his sense that time and people present there confirm the same then write the whole matter and submit the query again. (2) If he is denying to accept you on the basis of three talaqs then he is right. And you should also follow the same. Both of you should do true and genuine taubah and istighfar for what you lived together so far. Until you do not go through Shariah halalah you would never be halal for your previous husband. Allah the Almighty says in the holy Quran: فَإِن طَلَّقَهَا فَلاَ تَحِلُّ لَهُ مِن بَعْدُ حَتَّىَ تَنكِحَ زَوْجاً غَيْرَهُ [البقرة : 230]
