    Title: Nikah

Question: My parents want to marry me with my cousin (khala's son) but previously I have heard that my mom has breastfed him. Now we confirmed from my mother she is saying I don't remember whether I have breastfed him or not, but I think I would not have breastfed him. In such circumstances can I marry with my cousin? Kindly clear my doubt by quoting the Hadith or Quranic reference.

    Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 1379/1396/N=11/1435) It is lawful for you to marry your cousin (khala’s son) if there is no proof that your mother has breastfed him. Simply doubt shall not cause your nikah with him to be invalid. However, if as a precautionary measure, you do not marry him then it is better as it is possible that your mother might have forgotten to suckle him. That is why you heard that your mother has breastfed him.
