    Title: Nikah

Question: I have another question. I got married 3 yrs ago. At the time of my marriage I wore Sherwani of my non-Muslim friend. It was properly dry cleaned and handed over to me. Next day I wore it. But my question is that as per the Hindu religion they are all impure. And this point did not strike me in my mind. But I have to save money by not purchasing new Sherwani for myself. After all my nikah formalities done, I returned it back to my friend. Kindly advise does anything effect on my nikah. Still I am feeling very guilty.

    Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 521/521/M=1434) The clothes of non-Muslim are not necessarily impure. However, whether the said Sherwani was pure or impure, in each case it did not have any effect on your nikah. If the nikah was done as per the Shariah rules then nikah was valid. You need not worry. But it was not necessary to wear Sherwani, marriage also might be valid without even Sherwani. If you were to wear the Sherwani then you would have wore it by borrowing from a Muslim. It was against the modesty to wear Sherwani by borrowing from a non-Muslim.
