(Fatwa: 442/352/D=1433) It is fardh provided the conditions of Jumuah are met. Sometime the word of wujub is spoken and written in the context of fardh as there is no difference between them as per practice.

Q. I was on a visit to South Korea for a month. The place where Juma was offered was very far and it needed around 45 min of travel time (for one way travel). As I was new there I only performed Zohr Salaah at office since I didn't didnt know any muslim locals near my office or residence and did not have much time for travelling to the masjid. Q. Dear Mufti Sahib Assalam o Alikum! I am a researcher in a university in Pohang (a small city in south Korea). Here we have no local muslim community and masjid. Only few muslim students and scholars are present (from other countries) in the university (about 6 to 8). Some time even more or less because visiting scholars come here for a short time. Out of these muslims only 4 come for jumma prayer including me. My other three muslim friends (those who come for jumma prayer) offer jumma Khutba in English some even they say no word in Arabic except Bismillah. Please tell me if our Jumma prayer is valid under these circumstances or not. Some time there are only three persons for jumma prayer. My friends are of the view that jumma can be offered with three persons also. Please also tell me the minimum nember of persons required for validity of jumma prayer. This university is inside the city Pohang. Is Jumma compulsary here? One thing more I want to know is about the person who can lead jumma prayer. My friends have decided that jumma prayer will be lead by every one turn by turn. All other three friends of mine have no beard. They are very strict in their decision and do not want to even listen any body about it. I have told them that jumma prayer is valid only with Arabic Khutba and atleast with four persons but they are not ready to except it. Please tell me what should I do under these circumstances. Q. Assalamualeykum Mufti Saab, We are writing to you from Kinshasa, The Democratic Republic of Congo. There are some Masail we would like to know regarding Jumma prayers. There is a big company here in Kinshasa where many of our brothers (Sunni) work, and they reside in the same compound of the company. The owner of the company is a Muslim also (Sunni), he has built a very small masjid / Ibadad khana for the brothers working in the company to pray namaz. We got to know from the brothers residing there that there is no 5 times Azaan that gets called out and no 5 times Namaaz that takes place, it only takes place sometimes. And the masjid does not totalize 40 people in prayers. The owner of the company thinks that there are 5 times prayers with azan taking place in his company, whereas there isn?t. The Owner of the company does not reside in the company compound, and he spends a lot of time out of the country. Outside the compound nearby, there is a masjid (8-10 minutes walking distance) where 5 times namaz takes place with Azaan, and Jumma prayers aswell. The question is Mufti saab, does the Masjid in the company have the right to conduct Jumma Namaz, is the Jumma namaz accepted under the above circumstances? 1443 views
