Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !
(Fatwa: 105/105/M=02/1437) There is no harm in believing scientific research and reasoning if they are compatible with reasons set up by Shariah and are not against the Quran and Hadith. The world affairs are associated with causes; hence one should adopt any source first and then should trust in Allah. It is not against Islamic teachings to adopt lawful cause but one must not believe that the cause is effective in itself, rather it is only Allah who puts the effect in all the things and thus only Allah is the real Effecter.
