Title: Property division among the heirs

Question: My father passed away in December 2003 and left behind certain amount of property which was inherited to him through his father. We are four daughters and only one son who are heirs to him and our mother is alive. All of us the daughters wants property share and please advise the share of property we are entitled.

After paying due rights preceding inheritance and in case the details of the heirs are correct all the property of deceased person (including ancestral house) shall be divided into 48 shares. Out of the total, six shares shall go to the widow of deceased person (your mother) and 14 shares shall go to the son of deceased person while 7-7 shares shall go to each daughter (your sisters). The daughters have full right to take their full shares as per the Shariah. The detail of Shariah division is as follows:

Details:

Wife:                1 x 06 = 06

Son:                  1 x 14 = 14

Daughters:       4 x 07 = 28

Total               48                                   shares
