By ‘mussels’ if you mean the shell insect which is known as ghongha in Hindi then it is not halal to eat it according to Hanafi Fiqh as only fish is halal among the sea animals, whereas the seashell is an insect.

Does the holy quran talk about the usage of pig skins-i know it clearly forbides the consumption fo the same. May i also understand why our religion forbids the consumption of pork-i am lead to beleive that pork meat putrifies faster than any other meat consumed by man and the holy prophet considering the times when preservation was difficult in the desert due to the extreme heat conditions and obvious lack of refrigeration, forbid the consumption of the same due to medical reasons as many people were falling sick due to the quick puetrifaction fo the meat.
(1) A Canadian company is making oil from the glands of Seals. This oil is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and very beneficial for brain, heart and nervous system. Is it Halal to consume such oil ? Is Seal Meat Halal? (2) Hydrolyzed Keratin is usually made by dissolving horns and hoofs of animals. The animal may be zabiha,non-zabiha or even pig. It has been used as animal glue for thousands of years. More recently it has found its way into hair care products to give hair body and stiffness. The process to manufacture is similar to gelatin but not as clean. Is it ok to use hair care products with small amounts of hydrolyzed keratin?
