Title: Shaving beard and eating unlawful mear due to compulsion of job....?

Question: I am joining the US army and they require me to shave my beard, Is it ok to this as a condition of employment? Furthur more the meat served in the mess is not halal, considering the tough training routine is it ok to eat some of this meat or should one strictly adhere to a vegetarian menu?

Shaving the beard and consuming unlawful meat is impermissible. One should avoid such a job which involves unlawful acts, one should always opt for only lawful jobs. The Quran says: ?Whoever fears Allah, He brings forth a way out for him, and provides him (with what he needs) from where he does not even imagine. And whoever places his trust in Allah, He is sufficient for him?. [65:3]
